Kudelma

Kudelma is a Finnish term used in textile contexts to denote weaving, the process of interlacing warp and weft to form fabric, as well as the woven fabric produced by that process. The word is related to kudonta (weaving) and to the root kude-, meaning to weave. In traditional Finnish weaving, kudelma describes the stage where warp threads are prepared on the loom and interlaced with weft threads. Depending on context, kudelma may refer to the act of weaving (the technique) or to the resulting material (the fabric), sometimes distinguished by specifying the weave structure, such as plain weave or twill, and by fiber composition, such as cotton, wool, linen, or silk.
