Krishnacentered

Krishnacentered is a term used to describe devotional orientations that place Krishna at the center of belief, practice, and community life. It is most closely associated with Gaudiya Vaishnavism and with contemporary Krishna-centered movements that emphasize Krishna as the supreme form of God and the primary focus of worship.

In these approaches, Krishna is understood as the origin of all avatars and the ultimate object of devotion. Practices typically include bhakti, sacred chanting, study of scriptures such as the Bhagavata and the Bhagavad Gita, temple worship, and celebration of Krishna’s life events, such as Janmashtami.

Organizationally, Krishnacentered practice is associated with movements that promote a lifestyle of service to Krishna, communal kirtan, vegetarianism, and public mission. The most prominent example in the modern era is the Krishna Consciousness movement, ISKCON, which has disseminated Krishna-centered devotion globally.

The term is used descriptively by followers and scholars to indicate a central devotional emphasis, though interpretations vary. Some practitioners foreground internal devotion and philosophical positions that identify Krishna as the original or highest form of divinity, while others integrate Krishna-centered devotion within broader Vaishnava frameworks.
