Kriegsakademie is a historical and generic term used in German-speaking military contexts to denote a higher education institution dedicated to training officers for high-level command and staff duties. Such academies focused on military theory, strategy, operations, logistics, and the preparation of officers for the general staff, combining classroom instruction with war games and practical planning exercises.
Historically the most influential example was the Prussian Kriegsakademie in Berlin, established during the Napoleonic era
