Kossuthdíj
Kossuthdíj, or the Kossuth Prize, is Hungary's highest state recognition for achievements in culture and science. It was established in 1948 and named after Lajos Kossuth, a 19th‑century Hungarian statesman and freedom fighter. The prize is awarded by the Hungarian state to individuals or, on rare occasions, organizations that have produced enduring contributions to Hungarian cultural life or scientific progress.
