Kortplats

Kortplats is a Swedish term that translates to "card place" or "card slot" in English. It is most commonly used in the context of electronic devices to refer to a physical opening designed to accept a memory card or other types of expansion cards. These cards often store data or add functionality to the device.

The most prevalent type of kortplats is for SD cards (Secure Digital). These are widely used in digital cameras, smartphones, tablets, and many other portable electronics for storing photos, videos, music, and other files. Other types of kortplats might accommodate microSD cards, which are smaller versions of SD cards, or specialized cards like SIM cards for mobile network connectivity.

Beyond consumer electronics, the term kortplats can also appear in industrial or specialized computing contexts, referring to slots for interface cards, such as network interface cards or graphics cards, within a larger system.
