Korpusse is a fictional ethnolinguistic group used in worldbuilding and speculative fiction to illustrate alpine societies. In the most common in-world setting, the Korpusse inhabit the highland plateau of the continent of Valnar, where they maintain a relatively dense cultural landscape despite a sparse population. They are organized into patrilineal clans that participate in a rotating council of elders, with a ceremonial chief from among the senior clan heads holding limited executive authority during collective rites.

The name Korpusse derives from the ancestral term korp, meaning “stone” or “ridge,” reflecting their stone architecture and mountainous homeland. Their language, Korpus, is described as an agglutinative, SOV tongue with rich case marking and a tendency toward postverbal particles.

Geographically, they reside in valleys and plateaus above 1,000 meters, with settlements centered on fortified stone houses and terraced fields. The economy combines pastoralism, mining, and interregional trade, especially for metals and timber. Craft specialists produce gates, masonry, and textiles, exchanged through seasonal markets along established routes with neighboring groups.

Historically, the Korpusse trace origins to migrations during the early medieval period in the setting, followed by consolidation under elder councils. They maintain seasonal ceremonies, mask-making, and ancestor rites that reinforce clan cohesion and memory.
