Korporalingvistikk, often translated as corpus linguistics, is a branch of linguistics that uses large collections of naturally occurring text and speech, known as corpora, as its primary data source. Instead of relying on intuition or introspection, corpus linguists analyze patterns and frequencies of language use as evidenced in these extensive datasets.

The methodology of corpus linguistics involves the use of computational tools to search, tag, and analyze the corpus. These tools can identify specific words, phrases, grammatical structures, and their contexts. By examining vast amounts of authentic language, researchers can gain empirical insights into how language is actually used, rather than how it is theoretically thought to be used.
