Koordinátás

Koordinátás is a Hungarian adjective meaning “having coordinates” or “related to coordinates.” It is used in mathematics, computer science, and geography to describe objects, data, or representations that are defined by coordinate values within a specified coordinate system.

In geometry and algebra, a point is koordinátás when its location is given by a coordinate tuple, such as (x, y) in a two‑dimensional plane or (x, y, z) in space. Coordinates enable the use of algebraic methods to describe and analyze geometric objects: lines by equations, curves by parametric or implicit forms, and surfaces by multivariable functions. The choice of coordinate system—Cartesian, polar, cylindrical, spherical, and so on—affects how objects are represented and manipulated.

In practical contexts, koordinátás data refer to sets of numbers that specify positions: points on maps, vertices in a mesh, or vertices of a polygon in a graphics scene. Geographic coordinates (latitude, longitude, altitude) locate real-world positions on the Earth and can be transformed between systems through coordinate transformations.
