Another significant category is the load-bearing wall construction. In this method, walls themselves serve as the primary structural components, supporting floors and roofs directly. This is often seen in traditional masonry buildings.

Arch and vault constructions utilize curved elements to transfer loads outwards and downwards, effectively spanning openings. These are often made of stone or brick.

Truss constructions employ triangular arrangements of members to create rigid frameworks, efficiently distributing tensile and compressive forces. These are commonly used in bridges and roofs.

Shell constructions, such as domes and thin concrete shells, utilize their curved shape to achieve structural stability and distribute forces over a large surface area.

Finally, suspension and cable-stayed constructions use tension members, like cables or ropes, to support the main structure, allowing for long spans and visually striking designs.
