Konjugatsyra, also known as acetic acid or ethanoic acid, is a simple organic compound with the chemical formula CH₃COOH. It is the primary component of vinegar, typically found in concentrations of 4–8% in household vinegar. Acetic acid is a colorless liquid with a pungent, sour odor and is classified as a weak acid, meaning it partially dissociates in water.

In its pure form, acetic acid is highly corrosive and can cause severe skin irritation or burns. It is miscible with water, alcohol, and chloroform, making it versatile in various chemical applications. Industrially, acetic acid is produced primarily through the oxidation of ethanol or acetaldehyde, as well as through the carbonylation of methanol.
