These minerals include tin, tantalum, tungsten, and gold. The extraction and trade of these minerals are often controlled by armed groups, who use the profits to fund their activities, perpetuating violence and instability. The Democratic Republic of Congo has been a primary focus of concern regarding konfliktråvarorna, although similar issues exist in other conflict-affected regions.
