Kondensorsystem

Kondensorsystem (condenser system) is a system that condenses vapor into a liquid by removing heat from the vapor. In engineering practice the condenser is a key component of vapor‑compression cycles in refrigeration and air conditioning, as well as in steam power plants and industrial process heat systems. The primary function is to reject latent heat from the vapor phase, allowing the working fluid to return to a liquid state and be recirculated.

A kondensorsystem typically comprises a condenser heat exchanger, a cooling medium circuit (water, air, or a combination), equipment to remove heat (cooling towers or fans), and collection/return piping. Additional instruments include pressure and temperature sensors, level indicators, and control valves.

Operation: high‑pressure vapor from compressor or turbine enters the condenser, transfers heat to the cooling medium, causing condensation; condensate is collected and directed back to the boiler or feed system; the condensate loop is often closed and maintained at a set pressure.

Types: air‑cooled condensers use ambient air, often with fans; water‑cooled condensers use cooling water in shell‑and‑tube or plate heat exchangers; evaporative condensers use water sprays to enhance cooling; cooling towers are common in large installations.

Applications: refrigeration and air conditioning, heat pumps, steam turbines in power plants, and various industrial processing tasks.

Design considerations: heat rejection rate, available cooling resource, fouling, corrosion, pressure drop, energy efficiency, and environmental concerns (water use, drift, discharge).
