Komparatiivipäätteet are suffixes in the Finnish language used to form the comparative degree of adjectives and adverbs. The most common comparative suffix is -mpi. For example, the adjective "kaunis" (beautiful) becomes "kauniimpi" (more beautiful). Similarly, the adverb "nopeasti" (quickly) becomes "nopeammin" (more quickly).

In certain cases, particularly with adjectives ending in vowels, the comparative suffix can change slightly. For instance, adjectives ending in -ea, -eä, or -ia often drop the final vowel before adding -mpi. "Hieman" (a little) becomes "hiemanpi" (a little bit more). Some words have irregular comparative forms. For example, "hyvä" (good) becomes "parempi" (better), and "paha" (bad) becomes "huonompi" (worse).

The comparative form is used to compare two things or to indicate a greater degree of a quality. For instance, "Tämä talo on kauniimpi kuin tuo" (This house is more beautiful than that one). When comparing more than two items, the superlative degree is used. The comparative form can also be used without an explicit comparison, simply indicating an increase in intensity, such as "Hän on tullut nopeammin" (He has arrived more quickly).
