Kombines

Kombines is a term used in several languages to refer to a one-piece garment that covers the torso and the legs, similar to what English speakers call a jumpsuit, coverall, or boiler suit. The design typically comprises a single garment with a front closure and sometimes a bib-front with shoulder straps, though variants range from sleeveless to full sleeves and from fitted to loose cuts. Materials vary by use, including durable denim or cotton for workwear, twill or canvas for protection, and lighter synthetics or blends for fashion or leisure. Some models are designed for safety, with flame resistance, chemical resistance, or high-visibility features.

Kombines can serve multiple purposes. In industrial settings they protect clothing and skin from dirt, oil, and minor hazards. In fashion, they are used as a versatile, all-in-one garment and have appeared in various styles from utilitarian to tailored. The term is used in several languages; for example, in Polish the equivalent term is kombinezon, while the English counterpart is jumpsuit or coverall. The concept has influenced clothing design internationally and has undergone several revivals, especially in contemporary fashion where modern fabrics and silhouettes reframe the one-piece look.
