Kolna

Kolna is a small settlement situated in the southeastern part of Slovenia within the Municipality of Šmarje pri Jelšah, in the traditional region of Styria. The area lies at an elevation of approximately 232 metres above sea level and covers a land area of about 1.2 square kilometres. According to the 2002 census, Kolna had a population of 63 residents, though more recent estimates suggest a slight decline due to rural outmigration. The inhabitants are predominantly ethnic Slovene, with the official language being Slovene.

The local economy is primarily based on agriculture, with small-scale farming of cereals, root vegetables, and orchards characteristic of the Styrian landscape. In addition, the area benefits from the proximity of the Lendava road corridor, which connects Kolna to larger commercial centres. Public transport is limited; residents rely on regional bus services that connect to Šmarje pri Jelšah and the municipal capital, Celje. The settlement is a part of the Savinja Statistical Region, an administrative division used for statistical and regional planning purposes. No notable historical buildings or cultural institutions are located within Kolna itself; nevertheless, the community maintains traditional Styrian customs, especially during the annual harvest festival in late August. The surrounding area is characterized by rolling hills and a mix of pastureland and woodland, typical of the Lower Savinja Valley.
