Kobuleti

Kobuleti is a town in the Adjara region of Georgia, located on the eastern shore of the Black Sea. It serves as the administrative center of Kobuleti Municipality and lies about 25 kilometers north of Batumi.

Geography and climate: The town sits on the coastal Kobuleti plain, backed by pine forests and low hills. The climate is humid subtropical, with hot summers and mild winters, which supports seaside recreation and agriculture, including citrus cultivation in the surrounding region.

History: The Kobuleti area has ancient roots as part of Colchis and later experienced various ruling powers, including the Ottoman and Russian empires. In the 19th and 20th centuries it developed as a seaside resort and grew with tourism and rail and road connections along the Black Sea coast. Since Georgia's independence, it has remained a popular summer destination in Adjara.

Economy and tourism: Today Kobuleti is known as a coastal resort town with a long sandy beach, a promenade, and a range of hotels, guesthouses, and restaurants. Tourism peaks in summer, complemented by local citrus and other agricultural products produced nearby. The town is connected to Batumi and other coastal settlements by road and by railway, making it a common base for visitors exploring western Georgia.

Transport: The town is served by the coastal highway linking Batumi with other coastal towns and by a railway line on the Batumi–Kobuleti segment, with regular regional services.
