Koagulaatoreid
Koagulaatoreid, often translated as coagulators or coagulating agents, are substances used to promote the process of coagulation, which is the formation of a solid clot from a liquid. In biological contexts, this typically refers to the clotting of blood. Blood coagulation is a complex cascade of enzymatic reactions involving various proteins called clotting factors. When a blood vessel is injured, these factors are activated in a specific sequence, ultimately leading to the conversion of soluble fibrinogen into insoluble fibrin. Fibrin forms a meshwork that traps blood cells and platelets, forming a stable clot to stop bleeding.
In medicine, coagulators are employed in various situations. They can be used to control bleeding during surgery
Beyond medicine, the term coagulator can also refer to devices that use heat or other energy sources
