Knogletabs

Knogletabs are a line of modular labeling and organization tabs designed for use in offices, laboratories, workshops, and classrooms. They are small, durable plastic or polymer tabs that can be attached to surfaces using either a magnetic backing or a reusable adhesive. The writable surface accepts dry-erase markers and is available in multiple colors and shapes to support rapid visual categorization. The product line emphasizes reusability and simple replacement of individual tabs without removing the entire label strip.

Design variants include circular and rectangular tabs in sizes from 8 to 25 millimeters. Some models feature magnetic backing with low-retention magnets intended for steel or ferrous surfaces, while others use an adhesive foam mounting pad for non-magnetic substrates. In higher-end versions, tabs include optional RFID tags for inventory tracking and digital asset management. All versions aim to provide quick, repeatable labeling that can be updated without waste.

Common uses include labeling cables and storage bins, annotating shelves in workshops, organizing laboratory samples, and marking steps in assembly processes. In classroom settings, Knogletabs are used for group projects and equipment checklists. For inventory-heavy environments, RFID-enabled variants can be scanned with handheld readers to track items.

Knogletabs were developed by Knogle Systems, with the first release in the early 2010s. The line has since expanded with accessories such as replacement surfaces, magnetic extenders, and color sets. Reception among users has highlighted ease of reuse and low-cost labeling, while critics point to adhesive residue on non-magnetic surfaces and occasional magnetic interference with sensitive electronics.
