Kiya
Kiya is a name with multiple uses, most prominently associated with an ancient Egyptian royal figure. She was a queen consort of Pharaoh Akhenaten in the 18th Dynasty during the Amarna Period (c. 1350s–1330s BCE). The contemporary evidence for Kiya is fragmentary compared with that for Akhenaten and Nefertiti; her exact rank within the royal harem is debated. Some sources describe her as a Great Royal Wife, while others treat her as a secondary wife or consort. Her possible children are a matter of scholarly dispute; there is no consensus on her offspring or their line of succession. Because no widely agreed tomb or burial has been identified for Kiya, reconstructing her life depends on scattered inscriptions, seals, and artistic representations from Amarna. As a result, Kiya’s role in court life and dynastic politics remains a topic of ongoing research and debate among Egyptologists.
In modern times, Kiya is also used as a feminine given name in various cultures. The name
