Keskpangad

Keskpangad is a small coastal town in the fictional country of Norlandia, located on the western shore of the Nor Sea. The name is said to derive from elements meaning "central" and "banks" in the local language, a nod to its location at the river mouth and its historical role in trade. The town has an area of about 18 square kilometers and a population of roughly 2,900 as of the latest census.

It lies in a temperate maritime climate, with mild winters and cool summers. The terrain is low-lying, with a nearby pine forest to the north and agricultural fields to the south. The natural harbor accommodates small fishing boats and ferries.

Keskpangad began as a medieval fishing and trading settlement. The arrival of the railway in the late 19th century connected it to larger markets, spurring growth. In the 20th century, fishing and light manufacturing dominated; in recent decades tourism and services have grown.

Economy centers on fishing, seafood processing, small-scale manufacturing, and services in the tourism sector.

Culturally, the town hosts a midsummer festival, a small museum, and a library. The Old Lighthouse is a local landmark, and many buildings feature wooden architecture with white trimming.

Keskpangad is part of the Norlandia coastal prefecture and is governed by a municipal council. Public services include a primary school, a secondary school, a clinic, and a library.

Notable residents include fictional writer Lene Arlid and sailor Jonas Kvarn, and the town maintains a sister-city relationship with Harrinvik in the neighboring realm.
