Keskipistoolit, also known as center-fire cartridges, are a type of self-contained ammunition for firearms. The defining characteristic of a center-fire cartridge is the primer, which is located in the center of the base of the cartridge case. When the firing pin strikes the primer, it ignites a small amount of explosive material, which in turn ignites the main propellant charge within the case. This combustion generates gases that propel the bullet down the barrel.
