Kerülendek

Kerülendek is a rural settlement in the fictional country of Veridia, in Solaryn Province. It lies in the Kerül River valley, about 75 kilometers north of the provincial capital. The latest census lists around 1,150 residents.

Etymology: The origin of Kerülendek is uncertain. Local tradition links the name to a medieval land grant; historical records point to Turkic-influenced toponymy in the region.

Geography and climate: Located on a plain ringed by low hills, the area has a temperate climate with warm summers and cold winters. Annual precipitation is roughly 550–600 mm.

History: Founded in the medieval period as a farming outpost, Kerülendek developed into a parish town and market stop. It remained largely agricultural through modernization, with gradual road improvements and services.

Economy: The economy centers on agriculture—grains and orchard fruit—complemented by small craft workshops and limited rural tourism.

Infrastructure: The settlement includes a primary school and a small health clinic. It is connected by regional roads; the nearest railway station and larger markets are within a short drive, and a weekly market serves the area.

Culture: The community observes an annual harvest festival and preserves local folk practices tied to agriculture. The Veridian language and a regional dialect are spoken alongside the national language.

Notable sites: The Kerülendek Church, a preserved windmill, and the ruins of a medieval manor in the surrounding countryside.
