Kenttäverkot

Kenttäverkot, often translated as field networks or sensor networks, refer to a decentralized system of spatially distributed autonomous devices called sensors, used to monitor physical or environmental conditions. These sensors collect data such as temperature, sound, vibration, pressure, motion, or pollutants, and cooperatively pass their data through the network to a main location. The development of kenttäverkot has been driven by advancements in wireless communication, embedded systems, and microelectromechanical systems (MEMS).

A typical kenttäverkko consists of nodes, which are individual sensor devices. Each node is equipped with a sensing unit, a processing unit, a transmitter/receiver, and a power source.
