Kellonajonen

Kellonajonen is a Finnish term that refers to a type of moving assembly that allows a ship to turn in a confined space while keeping its propeller out of the water. This innovation was crucial for the design of icebreakers, which need to be able to maneuver in narrow channels and tight spaces.

The kellonajonen mechanism consists of a rotating dock or slipway equipped with a caisson, a watertight enclosure, that surrounds a portion of the ship's hull.
