Kaugemõjupolümeeriseerimine, also known as remote chain-growth polymerization, is a specialized polymerization technique where the initiation of the polymerization reaction occurs at a distance from the growing polymer chains. This contrasts with traditional chain-growth polymerization where initiation and propagation happen in close proximity.

In kaugemõjupolümeeriseerimine, the initiating species is generated or transported to the monomer-containing region without direct contact. This can be achieved through various methods, such as using light, heat, or chemical signals that propagate to the reaction site. For instance, a photoinitiator might be activated remotely by UV radiation, generating initiating radicals that then diffuse to the monomer. Alternatively, a chemical precursor could decompose at a distance, releasing species that initiate polymerization.
