Kategoriseerime is the Estonian verb meaning "we categorize" (from kategoriseerida). It denotes the act of organizing items, ideas, or data into categories. The corresponding noun form is kategoriseerimine, or categorization. The verb is formed from kategooria (category) with the -iseerima suffix, following common Estonian patterns for creating dynamic verbs from nouns. In Estonian, kategoriseerime thus marks a current action carried out by a group.

In practice, categorization is central to how information is stored and retrieved.
