Karlstejn
Karlstejn is a large Gothic castle founded in 1348 by Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor and King of Bohemia. It is located in the town of Karlstejn in the Beroun District of the Czech Republic. The castle was built as a place to store the crown jewels, reliquaries, and other precious state treasures, as well as to serve as Charles IV's personal refuge.
The castle's strategic location, atop a limestone cliff overlooking the Vltava River, made it a formidable fortress.
Over the centuries, Karlstejn has undergone several reconstructions and modifications, but it has largely retained its
