Kardánhajtás
Kardánhajtás, also known as a driveshaft or propeller shaft, is a mechanical component used to transmit torque and rotation between two parts of a machine that are not rigidly connected. It is most commonly found in vehicles to transmit power from the transmission or differential to the wheels. The defining characteristic of a kardánhajtás is its use of universal joints, or CV joints (constant velocity joints), at one or both ends. These joints allow the shaft to operate at an angle, accommodating changes in the relative position of the connected components due to suspension movement or steering. This flexibility is crucial for transmitting power smoothly and continuously, even when the drivetrain components are not perfectly aligned. The kardánhajtás is typically a hollow tube made of steel, which provides strength and rigidity while minimizing weight. The length and diameter of the shaft are designed based on the torque it needs to transmit and the distances between the connected components. In rear-wheel-drive vehicles, a single kardánhajtás connects the transmission to the rear differential. In four-wheel-drive vehicles, multiple kardánhajtások are employed to transmit power to both the front and rear axles, and sometimes to transfer cases. Proper maintenance, including lubrication of the universal joints, is important for the longevity and efficient operation of a kardánhajtás.
