Karbimatsoli
Karbimatsoli, known in some languages as karbimatsoli, is an antithyroid medication in the thionamide class. It is a prodrug that is converted to methimazole in the body and works by inhibiting thyroid peroxidase, the enzyme responsible for the iodination and coupling steps in thyroid hormone synthesis. By reducing the production of thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3), karbimatsoli helps control hyperthyroidism.
