Kansalaisella

Kansalaisella is the adessive singular form of the Finnish noun kansalainen, meaning citizen. In Finnish grammar, adessive forms are used to indicate location or association, and with the verb olla (to be) they express possession or relation as in “Kansalaisella on oikeuksia,” literally “There is rights with the citizen,” commonly understood as “A citizen has rights.”

The form appears in sentences to link something to a citizen or to indicate that the subject or possessor is a citizen. For example, in a typical statement you can say “Kansalaisella on oikeus äänestää,” meaning “The citizen has the right to vote.” The same morphological pattern can indicate other relations such as possession or attribution when combined with different verbs or phrases. It is one of several case forms used to express subtle nuances of location, source, or affiliation with the noun kansalainen.

In contemporary Finnish usage, Kansalaisella may also appear as a name or title for projects, campaigns, or publications that emphasize citizen participation and empowerment.
