Kaiserbäder
Kaiserbäder are a collective designation for three historic seaside spa towns—Ahlbeck, Heringsdorf, and Bansin—on the island of Usedom in the Baltic Sea, in the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. The term derives from the late 19th and early 20th centuries when the towns were developed and promoted as imperial baths under the auspices of the German Emperor Wilhelm II, making them notable examples of Kaiserreich-era spa culture. The expansion coincided with the extension of the railway network and the vogue for wellness tourism among the upper classes.
