Kaikkapäästösuodattimiin, often translated as "all-pass filters," are electronic filters that allow all frequencies to pass through them without significant attenuation. Unlike band-pass filters that allow a specific range of frequencies, or low-pass and high-pass filters that block certain frequency ranges, an ideal all-pass filter theoretically transmits all input frequencies at their original amplitude and phase.

In practice, truly ideal all-pass filters are not achievable due to the limitations of electronic components and physical laws. However, practical all-pass filters are designed to approximate this behavior over a desired frequency range. Their primary function is not to alter the amplitude of signals, but rather to introduce a frequency-dependent phase shift. This phase shift can be used to manipulate the timing of different frequency components within a signal.

Applications of all-pass filters are found in various fields. In audio processing, they are used for equalization, reverberation effects, and to correct phase distortions. In telecommunications, they can be employed to compensate for phase distortion introduced by transmission channels, ensuring better signal integrity. They also play a role in control systems and signal generation. While they don't change the loudness or intensity of a signal, the manipulation of phase can significantly alter the signal's waveform and its perceived characteristics.
