Kadambas
The Kadamba Dynasty was an ancient Indian royal house that ruled parts of the western Deccan, including present-day Karnataka and coastal Goa, from roughly the 4th to the 6th centuries CE. Banavasi, in what is now Karnataka, served as its capital. The dynasty is often regarded as the first native Kannada kingdom, and its rise is associated with the early formation of a Kannada-speaking polity in the region.
