Käsihöyläyksen

Käsihöyläys refers to the process of shaping wood using hand planes. This traditional woodworking technique involves drawing a plane along the surface of a piece of wood to remove thin shavings, thereby smoothing, flattening, or reducing the wood's dimensions. Hand planes consist of a sharp blade set within a stock, which is typically made of wood or metal. The operator guides the plane with one or both hands, applying downward pressure and moving it back and forth along the workpiece.
