Jordingsstaver

Jordingsstaver, also known as grounding rods or earth rods, are essential components in electrical grounding systems. Their primary function is to provide a low-resistance path for electrical current to dissipate into the earth. This is crucial for safety, protecting both people and equipment from the damaging effects of electrical surges, lightning strikes, and fault currents.

A typical jordingstav is a long, conductive rod, usually made of copper or galvanized steel, designed to be driven deep into the ground. The depth and material are important factors influencing the rod's effectiveness. The deeper the rod, the more likely it is to reach moist soil, which is a better conductor of electricity. Copper is often preferred for its excellent conductivity and resistance to corrosion, though galvanized steel offers a more economical alternative.

The jordingstav is connected to the electrical system's grounding conductor, often via a clamp. This connection creates a direct link between the electrical system and the earth.
