Jordingsskjema

Jordingsskjema is a diagram used in electrical engineering to illustrate the grounding and bonding arrangement of a building or installation. The term is mainly used in Norway and other Nordic countries.

Its purpose is to document how protective earth connections are made, how earth electrodes are connected, and how bonding conductors connect conductive parts to earth. It helps ensure a safe fault path, controls touch voltage, and supports testing and maintenance.

A typical jordingsskjema shows components such as the earth electrode(s), main earthing terminal, protective earth (PE) conductors, earth busbars, and equipotential bonding connections between exposed conductive surfaces and between metallic services and building structures.

The diagram also indicates the earthing system class used in the installation, commonly TN-S, TN-C-S, TT or IT, and may show how neutral is connected at the service entry in different configurations. It is drawn to reflect the installation design and the referenced standards.

Standards and guidance for jordingsskjema are provided by national and international bodies. In Norway, the design and documentation follow NEK 400 and IEC 60364 family standards, while other countries use corresponding national adaptations. The jordingsskjema is part of the electrical installation drawings and is used by designers, contractors, and inspectors to verify safety and compliance.
