Joinerytekniker is a skilled tradesperson specializing in joinery, responsible for producing and installing timber components for buildings and interiors. They read and interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, and specifications, select appropriate timber and materials, and plan the fabrication sequence. They cut, shape, join, assemble, and fabricate joinery components such as doors, windows, stairs, cabinetry, and shop fittings. They operate manual and machine tools, including saws, routers, planers, sanders, and CNC equipment, and use fasteners, adhesives, and hardware. Finishing includes sanding, staining, sealing, and varnishing. On site they fit and adjust components and ensure alignment and fit, often working with carpenters, designers, and project managers. They perform quality control and safety checks, maintain equipment, and document work.

Education typically combines vocational training with an apprenticeship in woodworking or carpentry, with potential further study in wood technology, CAD/CAM, or construction drawings.
