Jharkhands

Jharkhands, commonly known as the people of Jharkhand, are an indigenous group primarily residing in the Indian state of Jharkhand. The term "Jharkhand" itself translates to "Land of Forests" in the local languages, reflecting the region's rich biodiversity and historical significance as a tribal homeland. The people of Jharkhand are predominantly tribal communities, including groups such as the Ho, Santhal, Munda, Oraon, and Kharia, among others. These communities have distinct cultures, languages, and traditions that have been preserved over generations.

The history of Jharkhands is deeply intertwined with the region's struggle for identity and autonomy. For centuries, the tribal populations of Jharkhand were marginalized under colonial and later, post-independence, administrative systems. The demand for a separate state emerged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with movements like the Jharkhand Party advocating for greater political representation and cultural preservation.
