These systems are crucial for public health and environmental protection, preventing the spread of diseases and minimizing pollution of water bodies.

The primary components of a jakujärjestelmiä typically include a network of underground pipes, known as sewers, which carry wastewater from residential, commercial, and industrial buildings to a central treatment facility.
