Jakolinja

Jakolinja is a town and municipality in the fictional nation of Nordalen, located on the coast of the North Sea in the Nordalen region. The municipality covers 42.9 square kilometers and had a population of 5,800 in 2023. The name Jakolinja derives from the local language and translates roughly to "split line," a reference to an old boundary marker that once divided neighboring estates.

Geographically, Jakolinja sits on a gentle coastal plain with a small harbor. The Jakolinja River runs through the town, feeding mills in earlier centuries, and several hiking trails cross nearby forests and hills.

First documented in the 15th century, Jakolinja grew as a border settlement and market hub. It gained municipal status in the 19th century and modernized with a regional rail link in 1908.

Today the economy centers on fishing, small manufacturing, and services for residents and visitors. The town hosts the annual Jakolinja Festival, celebrating crafts, music, and regional cuisine.

Roads connect Jakolinja to surrounding towns; the nearest railway station lies in Haldenvik, about 12 kilometers away. Notable residents include Elena Dorin, a contemporary poet, and Mikal Halvorsen, former mayor and regional administrator.
