Jajpur
Jajpur is a town and a municipality in the Jajpur district of Odisha, India. It is located on the bank of the Brahmani River. The town is renowned for its historical significance, particularly its association with Buddhism. Jajpur was once a major center of Buddhist learning and art, known as 'Gupta Kashi' or 'Biraja Kshetra'. Numerous ancient Buddhist monasteries and sculptures have been unearthed in and around the area, attesting to its rich past. The present-day Jajpur town is situated near the ancient city ruins.
The district of Jajpur is predominantly agricultural. The main crops grown include rice, pulses, and oilseeds.
Historically, Jajpur has been an important religious center, with many Hindu temples besides its Buddhist heritage.
