Jaflong

Jaflong is a town and popular tourist area in the Sylhet Division of northeastern Bangladesh. It lies in Gowainghat Upazila, Sylhet District, close to the border with India's Meghalaya state. The landscape features green hills, tea gardens in the surrounding region, and a river that marks part of the international boundary, offering scenic views and a sense of border proximity.

One of Jaflong’s defining sights is the stone collection along the riverbed. Local residents quarry stones during the dry season and transport them for processing, a traditional livelihood in the area. The river and surrounding hills create viewpoints that attract visitors, and the site serves as a base for short hikes to nearby hills and waterfalls.

Tourism and access: Jaflong is a common day-trip from Sylhet city, reachable by road through Gowainghat. It is often visited in conjunction with nearby border areas such as Tamabil, which provides access toward the Dawki border crossing into India. The best time to visit is during the dry season and the winter months when conditions are cooler and the scenery is clearer.
