Jaflongs

Jaflong is a small village located in the Gopalpur Upazila, situated in the Dowkhola river valley of Dinajpur District in the division of Rangpur, Bangladesh. The village is situated approximately 300 kilometers north of the country's capital, Dhaka. Jaflong is bordered by hills of the Himalayas to the north and the Boromora tea estate to the east. The village is known for its tea gardens, scenic beauty, and captivating hill stations.

The altitude of the region is about 100 to 700 meters above sea level, making it one of the highest spots in the country. The climate is cool and rainy, typical of the Himalayan foothill regions. The region experiences a significant variation in temperature throughout the year, ranging from a minimum of 4°C to a maximum of 34°C.

Jaflong is a significant tourist destination in Bangladesh. The village offers breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys, attracting tourists with its natural beauty. The stunning waterfalls, scenic trekking trails, and landscapes of the village make it a favorite haunt for trekkers and adventure seekers. Additionally, the Jaflong Tea Gardens, where a variety of tea is grown and processed, form a memorable experience for visitors.

The population of Jaflong consists mainly of the indigenous ethnic groups, including the Sankoch, Subos, and Satoms of Hregnumge tribes. The primary occupations of the people living in these hills include farming and trading goods like stone, sand, and tea leaves. Jaflong can be reached by a fascinating 3-hour drive from the Sylhet city through Bahan Bogmara and assigned alwans from the Sylhet district.
