Jabar

Jabar, short for Jawa Barat, is a province of Indonesia located on the western part of the island of Java. Officially named Provinsi Jawa Barat, it is commonly referred to by the abbreviation Jabar in government, media, and daily use. Its capital is Bandung, a major city known for education, culture, and industry. The province is the most populous in Indonesia, with a population approaching 50 million.

Geographically, Jabar borders Banten and the Special Capital Region of Jakarta to the west, Central Java to the east, the Java Sea to the north, and the Indian Ocean to the south. It encompasses a diverse landscape that includes volcanic highlands in the Parahyangan Range, fertile valleys, and coastal plains. Notable mountains and volcanoes include Tangkuban Perahu near Bandung and Gunung Gede Pangrango.

Demographically, the province is dominated by the Sundanese ethnic group, with Indonesian as the lingua franca; Islam is the predominant religion, along with minorities. The economy is diverse, with manufacturing, textiles, automotive, electronics, and agriculture (vegetables, rice, tea, coffee) contributing significantly. Bandung serves as an educational and technological hub, while cities like Bogor, Bekasi, and Cirebon are important urban centers.

Administration: Jabar is subdivided into 27 regencies and 9 cities. The province plays a central role in Indonesia's history and development, with a rich cultural heritage including Sundanese music, cuisine, and crafts.
