Izzólámpákat

Izzólámpákat, often referred to as incandescent light bulbs, are a type of electric lamp that produces light by heating a filament until it glows. The filament, typically made of tungsten, is enclosed in a glass bulb filled with an inert gas or a vacuum to prevent oxidation and prolong its life. When an electric current passes through the filament, it heats up due to electrical resistance, emitting light across a spectrum, with a significant portion of the energy being released as heat.

The invention of the practical incandescent light bulb is widely attributed to Thomas Edison in the late 19th century, although many inventors contributed to its development. Early incandescent bulbs had very short lifespans and were inefficient, but continuous improvements in filament material and bulb design led to longer-lasting and brighter bulbs. For many decades, they were the primary source of artificial lighting in homes and businesses worldwide.

Despite their widespread use, incandescent bulbs are known for their low energy efficiency. A large percentage of the electrical energy consumed is converted into heat rather than visible light, making them less suitable for energy-saving initiatives. In recent years, they have been largely phased out in many regions in favor of more energy-efficient lighting technologies such as halogen lamps, fluorescent lamps, and light-emitting diodes (LEDs). While their production has decreased significantly, they remain a simple and inexpensive lighting solution for certain niche applications.
