Iyasu
Iyasu may refer to several individuals, most notably Iyasu V, Emperor of Ethiopia. He reigned as Emperor of Ethiopia from 1913 until his deposition in 1916. Born Lij Iyasu Tafari, he was the son of Ras Makonnen Wolde Mikael and his wife Weyzero Yeshimebet Ali. His reign was marked by internal political turmoil and a complex relationship with the Allied and Central Powers during World War I. Iyasu's attempts to assert his authority and his perceived pro-Muslim leanings led to opposition from the Ethiopian Orthodox Christian nobility and clergy. This resulted in a coup d'état that deposed him. Following his deposition, he was held under house arrest for many years.
Beyond the historical figure of Iyasu V, the name Iyasu can also appear in other contexts, though
