Ivanievi

Ivanievi is a small village in the central region of Veridia, a fictional Eastern European country. It serves as the administrative center of the Ivanievi Rural Municipality within Ivankov District. The name Ivanievi derives from the personal name Ivan, augmented by the Slavic suffix -ievi, a toponymic form indicating a place associated with a person named Ivan.

Ivanievi lies on a gently rolling plateau near the Sterna River. The surrounding countryside is a patchwork of fields, meadows, and deciduous woodlands. The area experiences a temperate continental climate, with cold winters, warm summers, and moderate annual rainfall.

Documents first mention Ivanievi in 1682 as a modest agricultural settlement. It expanded gradually through the 18th and 19th centuries, driven by grain farming and road connections. In the 20th century it gained administrative significance within the district and, after Veridia's independence, provided basic municipal services for the surrounding villages.

Population was about 1,300 in 2020. The community is predominantly ethnic Veridians, with small numbers of minority groups. Veridian is the common language, with some residents speaking Russian as a second language. The local economy relies on farming—grain, potatoes, and dairy—along with small repair services and craft workshops. A portion of residents commutes to larger towns for employment.

Ivanievi hosts an annual harvest festival that features rural music, dances, and food stalls. The village church, the Church of Saint John the Baptist, built in the 19th century, stands as a historical landmark. Local clubs support youth sports and amateur choirs.
