IsraelEmanuel

IsraelEmanuel (born June 12, 1993) is an American contemporary artist and visual storyteller known for his mixed media installations that explore themes of identity, migration, and digital culture. Raised in Detroit, Michigan, he developed an early interest in photography and artisanal craft, which influenced his later practice of incorporating found objects into his work. Emanuel earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Art Institute of Chicago in 2015, where he experimented with collage, video, and performance.

After graduation, Emanuel relocated to New York City, where his first solo exhibition, titled “Urban Echoes,” was presented at the Hammer Museum in 2017. The show received critical acclaim for its layered commentary on urban displacement and the commodification of memory. He continued to push interdisciplinary boundaries, collaborating with technologists to incorporate augmented reality into installations and partnering with nonprofit organizations to host community workshops in under‑served neighborhoods.

His work has been featured in several international festivals, including the Venice Biennale and the São Paulo Art Biennial. Emanuel is also a contributing editor for Artforum’s “New Voices” column and lectures on curatorial practice and the ethics of digital reproduction at institutions such as Columbia University and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. As a practicing artist and educator, IsraelEmanuel remains committed to creating spaces where cultural narratives intersect with contemporary technological experience.
