These rooms are typically equipped with specialized ventilation systems that maintain negative air pressure, meaning air flows into the room from the surrounding environment, not out. This prevents airborne pathogens from escaping the room. Additionally, isolation rooms often feature an anteroom or vestibule, serving as an airlock for donning and doffing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gowns, gloves, and masks.
