Isokineettiset

Isokineettinen refers to a method of muscle testing and rehabilitation that involves moving a limb at a constant, controlled speed throughout its full range of motion. This speed is predetermined and remains the same regardless of the force applied by the individual. Specialized equipment, known as isokinetic dynamometers, is used to measure the torque, power, and work produced by the muscles at this set velocity.

The principle behind isokinetic exercise is that as the individual attempts to move faster, the resistance from the machine increases proportionally, and as they slow down, the resistance decreases. This ensures that the muscles are maximally challenged at all points in their range of motion, preventing compensatory movements. Isokinetic testing is valuable for assessing muscle strength, endurance, and identifying imbalances between opposing muscle groups or between limbs. In rehabilitation, it is employed to restore strength, improve function, and prevent re-injury following surgery or trauma, particularly in sports medicine.
